SLIM - Salvacion Lim Higgins

The exhibition of works (opened last November) by Salvacion Lim Higgins, most known by Slim, at the National Museum of the Philippines was really worth the trip! Slim is considered to be one of the noted pioneers who helped shaped Philippine haute couture in the last century. After quickly flicking through the recently published Slim look book and seeing the exhibition in the flesh suddenly gave me such inspiration!

Slims's works is said to be known for its quality and avant garde style during its style. What was most astonishing was the innovative designs of one of the Philippines most iconic women's costume. It really got me excited about the use of butterly wings, which was popularised by the former first lady Imelda Marcos.

I did some sketches while I was there:

Just simply fantastic! http://slimslegacy.com/

Fashion Weekend Sydney 2009

A few photos from Fashion Weekend Sydney late last year. Fashion Weekend is a regular event in Sydney and Melbourne that showcases local Australian brands and collections for the coming season. Its not too bad. A lot of retailers sell their merchandise at discount during the weekend. I even bought myself (yet another) travelling bag. :P

FashioningNow Workshop - Sydney Design Festival 2009

Pangilicious'works from last year's FashioningNow Workshop during the Sydney Design Festival 2009. The workshop was conducted by the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) Faculty of Design.

The workshop was something like Project Runway with each individual task taking only 1.5 hours. First task was a decorative garment made from recycled materials (ie, random scraps of materials they had). The second task was to make a top or dress without making any waste from the given pink floral lycra fabric.

Design faculty members where surprised to find that I was in fact a Commerce university student. And they suggested that I should definitel transer to Design.
